"Apophis" and the Prophecied Threat of Meteors (Part 3)
As human beings, we have a tendency to view ourselves as being less in the eyes of the Most High than we actually are. But at the same time, I understand why sometimes philosophers and people like that make statements such as 'we're just specks of dust in grand scheme of the universe'. Even the Bible points out how fleeting (physical) life can be. We are precious in the eyes of the Lord but in the grand scheme of things terribly fragile.
THE SCIENCE CONSPIRACY
I'm not against science or anything like that. But I do believe there are entities out there who conscientously use it to try use it to negate the existence or involvment of the Most High.
For instance, it's prohesied that there will be "earthquakes in diverse places", amongst other catastrophes, in the last days. The impliction is that God, being displeased with mankind, is about the flip the script on planet Earth, so He's causing or allowing these things to happen. But scientists will say, 'no, it's a shift in the tectonic plates'.
Some people will even go as far as to say 'nation rising against nation', as Jesus also prophesied, is due the Illuminati causing wars behind the scenes. Then you, as a religious-minded person, may counter, 'well Who's shifting the plates', or 'is the illuminati really powerful like that'? But by all means, some scientist or theorist out there can explain it all away, while defactoring God.
So you have a sitution like what's currently going on in the States, with these incessant and increasingly-severe weather anamolies. Babylon is literally freezing over. 'Oh, it's a cold front from the arctic'. Duh. But aren't these the same people who were saying just some time ago that the globe is warming at an alarming rate? Science has an answer for everything, with the implicit goal, in the eyes of the world, being to take the Most High out of the equation.
SCIENCE FICTION VS. THE TRUTH
The entertainment industry, and let's say some scifi flicks in particular, also has the tendency to make these unrealistic films when it comes to prospect of dealing with a major disaster. That's one of the reasons why for instance Americans, even those adept in biblical prophecy, could comfortably reside stateside, without a care in the world so to speak, despite the prophesied threat of the U.S. eventually being reduced to a nuclear wasteland. They watch films like Mad Max and think in the aftermath of an apocalyptic nuclear strike, it's going to be a bunch of guys riding around on motorcycles with spiked chains. Only the strongest will survive, and we all like to think we're strong. Sounds thrilling, doesn't it?
Or what about the Bruce Willis classic Armageddon (1998)? A meteor of catastrophic proportions is hurtling towards the Earth, and if I remember correctly, a group of ambitious astronauts, including a couple of amateurs, land atop and blow it up. An interesting theory, and theoretically, what we believe we can achieve. But sometimes, amdist ingesting too much Hollywood, we need one of those 'speck of dust' reality checks.
NO DEFENSE AGAINST METEORS
In relation to meteors, that reality check came recently when a NASA scientist confirmed that there really isn't jackshit we can do if a "city-killer" asteroid came hurtling towards our planet. The best thing we can respectively hope for is that it doesn't impact the region of the world where we live.
The good news is that, the possiblity of Apophis hitting Earth "for at least 100 years" has now been ruled out. We're safe from it, but our descendants may not be as lucky.
The bad news is that there are thousands of other asteroids, even those "we don't know about", which possess the largely-unpredictable potential of making impact. Or put otherwise, we can be impacted at any time - so much so that the aforementioned scientist noted this reality "keeps (her) up at night".
CONCLUSION
Maybe that lady - Kelly Fast, who's tasked by NASA with the job of "planetary defense" - reads the Bible, and what's also making her leary is knowing that it's already been foretold that we will in fact be hit. Furthermore, that meteor, "Wormwood", is going produce global ramifications. It's one of those kinda things, the prospects of which makes you question what's really important, like what's life really about and how we, as believers, are approaching the realities of the last days.
