World War 3 Watch: United Kingdom + Japan

I would argue that World War II - and perhaps by extension World War I even - never actually ended.  These conflicts may have concluded officially, on paper, with peace treaties, surrenders or what have you being signed.  But in the aftermath of WWII, there have been a number of resulting conflicts, most notably in Asia, which resulted in mass casualties.  Wars may end on paper, but grudges, political beefs and lust for domination can persist for generations afterwards.

I'm not one of those scholars who believe that a full-scale World War III will inevitably happen, and of course, I hope and pray that it doesn't.  As for the War of Armageddon, i.e. the nations of the world teaming up to (physically) fight the Most High God, that's prophecy.  But when it comes to the prospect of World War III, none of us can see the future.  That being said, many of the powerful nations of the world, being who are they, are very much preparing for the possibility nonetheless.

For instance, it was recently reported that a UK fighter jet successfully "launch(ed) from Japan's largest warship".  This was a noncombat exercise, but the reason it made international headlines is because it marks "the first time F-35B Lightning II fighters from the Royal Navy conducted landings and launches on a Japanese destroyer carrier".  And what this all symbolizes, according to a high-ranking member of the UK's Naval Air Squadron, is "the ease with which the U.K. and Japan can operate together in the Indo-Pacific region now and in the future".

To my understanding, Japan has more or less been a key cog in the Anglo-American establishment since the conclusion of World War II, when the emperor surrender to the United States.  Technically there still stands a Japanese emperor, who now apparently is more of a figurehead than someone who holds noteworthy power.  There have been calls to restore the emperor back to political prominence, but all things considered that isn't likely to happen anytime soon.  And even if it does, there doesn't appear (as far as I know) to be any indication that Japan will then turn back the clock, shun the West and re-embrace its own imperialistic ambitions.

In the meantime, what rather appears to the case is if for instance the United States does go to war with China, Japan will back the former.  Or if the Chinese and the Japanese start fighting, as the two countries have lingering beefs which even predate WWII, presumably the U.S. will support the former.  It's a real scary situation, not only the potential for conflict but how many power players are involved.  And by extension, many of us normal folk who are who may be citizens or residents in these countries may also be adversely affected, especially since it is generally understood that WWIII, if it were to break out, would be more of a nuclear affair than its predecessor.

CONCLUSION

In a perfect world, the leaders of countries like the UK, Japan, China, North Korea and India would get together, like up the peace pipe and dismantle all their nuclear weapons and ambitions.  But of course, the world we live in is far from perfect.  And what we're rather faced with are never-ending reports of these selfsame countries preparing for the types of conflicts, if shit really hits the fan, could potentially kill billions of people.
