Four Police Officers Killed in South Carolina (Back in April)
I found this story interesting because I only stumbled upon a couple of days ago, as a link in another article. And I couldn't for the life of me remember reading about this incident when it actually occurred, back in April. Meanwhile, I visit various news sites, including a couple of major ones, usually numerous times on a daily basis.
The said truth is that, mass shootings/murders are now commonplace in American society. For awhile there, let's say circa 2022-23, they seemed to have calmed down. But this year, 2024, they're back with a vengeance.
For example, about a month ago a man in California "killed his in-laws, wife and two young children", i.e. his own family. Luckily (so to speak), the father-in-law was able to identify him before passing away.
Earlier today came a news report in which nine people, "including six kids" were killed when the SUV that was carrying them ran off the road and into a canal. That's a horrifying story in and of itself. But now, here comes the interesting part. The driver of the vehicle, according to police sources, did not properly make the sharp turn which led to the incident "for undetermined reasons". In other words, it sounds as if law enforcement has yet to be convinced that this was actually an accident, as opposed to the driver intentionally killing all of those people, her own family members apparently, including herself.
That's really scary when you think about it, that there may actually be people out there so demonic if you will, that it's plausible that they can kill innocents, even their own loved ones and even themselves, on a whim. It's scary but sadly enough believable, considering the types of headlines which have now become commonplace, emanating from countries like the United States. That's basically what the mass murders we've become accustomed to are anyway, i.e. the killing of innocents.
Some may argue that's not technically the case with police officers, since they're trained to deal with such situations. But it's like if someone catches you off guard, then, you know, you're caught. It doesn't matter if the victim is a police officer, soldier, etc. Bullets don't discriminate.
I'm not necessarily one of those anti-gun people, but sometimes, you know what I'm saying? Ideally, a citizenry with the right to bear all types of firearms would do so responsibly, and that seems to be the case with most gun-owning Americans. Also, as illustrated above, it doesn't take a gun to commit a mass killing. But who wants to live in an environment where a bunch of people can be murdered at any moment? That's akin to living in a warzone, though even worse when the killer can be someone you actually know and love.
