Rise of the (Murderous) Demon Spirit in the United States
The "demon spirit" referred to in this article is what a scientific person may rather term as a mental illness. Such sicknesses, the types of which may cause someone to for instance randomly kill a completely innocent person(s), may have different names in the scientific community. But demonism, i.e. the idea that a person's soul can be infected with one or more demons (i.e. a demoniac), is also real, even if not scientifically provable. I've met a genuine, overt demoniac at least once in my life. He was not, from what I could tell, the violent type, and he was concurrently interned in a mental institution. In the modern world, that's how these things often go. A person is infested with a demon, and it'll be chalked up to a mental, not spiritual problem.
